Chapter 06 · Private markets

A private bet with funds held by fixed rules

Invite the people you want, agree on the stakes and answer criteria, and lock the money. The host does not hold the pot or decide who wins.

Keep the invitation private and the agreement explicit

A private market starts with an invitation to a defined question. The host proposes the YES and NO meanings, permitted sources, closing time, offered stakes and settlement rules. Each invited participant can read the same terms before accepting.

The room restricts ordinary access to its invited members. Its claims remain private agreement records rather than automatically becoming public wallet tokens. Privacy does not give the host control of the outcome.

Acceptance fixes the terms for the matched money. The host can arrange an unfunded draft and send invitations. After funding, the host cannot change the odds, remove a funded person's claim, take the escrow or choose the court's answer.

Both sides fund the agreement

The system reserves money while an invitation waits for its match. An unmatched amount can return under the offer's cancellation or expiry rules. Once matched, both stakes remain committed until the agreed settlement rules allow release.

Additional invited pairs can accept their own explicitly stated agreements. Every pair keeps its recorded allocation. A later participant cannot silently change the odds already accepted by another pair.

Use the same independent court and show every deduction

When the question becomes eligible for resolution, contributors advance the exact fee quoted by DemoThemis. The court receives the agreed question and sources. QuantMMO keeps the matched backing and applies the returned final result.

After a final YES or NO, the initial fee for that successful request is reimbursed from the matched backing. The locked QuantMMO fee is charged on the remainder. The winning private claims divide what is left.

The room cannot reduce the court's quote. If the fee cannot be supported under its repayment rules, it follows its already agreed funding deadline and fallback. A host does not get to invent an answer to release the money.

Keep delay, appeal and cancellation distinct

A provisional answer may be appealed through the available court route. Contributors fund the quoted appeal service and any separate security. The initial request reimbursement waits for finality.

A completed case with insufficient information spends the accepted service fee but leaves both sides' backing intact. It charges no QuantMMO fee. The room follows its fixed retry timetable. If it finally reaches cancellation, Alice receives her $700 and Bob receives his $300 under the original example.

A case that could not form a court is different from a completed inconclusive case. Any unused fee returned by the court goes back to its contributors. The room's fixed fallback handles the unresolved stakes.

A private ruling is not automatic proof of truth

Participants may separately agree to a defined later use of a private case. That permission is not part of simply placing a bet. It must cover the people and material included, and the sandbox requires every included participant's permission.

If independent evidence later establishes what happened, a permitted case could help DemoThemis assess juror accuracy without exposing the earlier answer to the people being assessed. The court's own ruling cannot prove that the court was correct.

QuantMMO records the agreement and settlement. DemoThemis owns any later assessment of its jurors. Neither activity gives the host a vote over a funded market's outcome.
