The market holds the money and the court supplies the answer
A prediction is only as useful as the agreement about what counts as winning. QuantMMO separates the market from the people who decide the answer. QuantMMO records the terms, holds the backing and calculates payments. DemoThemis is the independent court asked to resolve the question.
The proposed court uses verified people selected for the case and private voting. Buying a large market position does not buy votes. Paying the request fee does not let the funder select the panel or change the question.
That separation addresses two conflicts: traders ruling on a market through purchased voting power, and a venue deciding how to interpret its own payout promise. The design also needs clear terms. An independent court cannot make an ambiguous question precise after people have bet on different meanings.
DemoThemis explains how its people are selected and its votes protected. This chapter follows the market's part of the agreement, from fixed sources to the final payment.
Give every bettor the same question
Before the first stake, the market records the question, the YES and NO criteria, permitted sources, closing time and earliest court-request time. It also records the market fee rule, how court funding is repaid and what happens if a usable answer never arrives.
The permitted sources are the publications or records the court may consult. QuantMMO collects those references from the accepted terms into the case record. It does not ask traders to upload competing evidence packages or let a funder replace the source list.
When the agreed cutoff arrives, that record is frozen for the request. Freezing means its accepted contents can no longer be edited. Funding supplies money against the stored request, not a new version of the question.
Collect the exact fee before opening a case
Once a request is eligible, DemoThemis supplies its fee and accepted service terms. The market page shows the target, the amount already contributed, the remaining amount and the funding deadline. One person can cover the fee or several can share it.
- Contribute to the named request. Money is reserved against that funding round. The preview caps the contribution at the amount still needed.
- Keep a withdrawal option until acceptance. An unaccepted contribution remains refundable. An expired or rejected round returns its unspent contributions.
- Complete funding and submit together. The contribution that reaches the target sends the exact fee with the stored request. A changed or expired quote cannot silently charge more.
- Read the court's returned progress. QuantMMO shows the accepted case, public status, any provisional answer and the available appeal terms. Outcome backing stays with QuantMMO.
The initial contribution is sometimes called a resolution bond. Here that means an advance of the court's service fee with conditional reimbursement. It is repaid from market backing after a final YES or NO for that request. It is not a refundable deposit that the court always returns.
If the exact fee is at least as large as the available market backing, the market cannot support that full reimbursement and a positive winner payout. No such request opens under the stated rule. The market follows the funding and cancellation conditions fixed before betting.
An appeal buys another court stage
A provisional answer can still be challenged through the route accepted by the court. The market page shows the available next stage, deadline and exact funding target. Contributions request that stage. They do not cast votes for an outcome.
An appeal quote separates service money, which pays for the additional work, from security, money held under the appeal's return or forfeiture rules. Security can be zero. A funded appeal does not promise that both amounts will come back.
If the funding target is not reached in time, the unaccepted contributions return. If the appeal is accepted, the court decides it and returns both the result and the disposition of any security. An answer of YES by itself does not prove an appeal succeeded. The question is whether the challenged ruling changed under the accepted rules.
The route has a defined end. QuantMMO waits for the court's finality record, meaning confirmation that this result is final under that route. It does not create endless new appeals or infer a final answer from its own timer.
Repay the request, deduct the fee, pay the winners
After a final YES or NO, QuantMMO reimburses the successful request's initial fee to its contributors in proportion to what each supplied. That repayment comes from the market backing across both sides. The locked QuantMMO fee is then applied to what remains, and the winning claims divide the rest.
For wallet tokens, each token on the winning side has the same redemption right. Earlier trades only changed who owns it. For a pool that never created tokens, the recorded winning claims receive the allocation directly.
An inconclusive case is different from a failed request
Insufficient information means the completed court process could not establish YES or NO. It can be provisional and appealed. If it remains final, the accepted service fee has paid for that work. Contributors are not reimbursed from the pool, no QuantMMO fee is charged, and outcome backing stays intact.
The market can permit a fresh, separately funded request after its fixed waiting period. An earlier inconclusive fee is not repaid just because a later request succeeds. New outcome tokens remain closed to creation.
If the final retry limit or fallback deadline is reached, QuantMMO applies the cancellation rule. Before token conversion, this returns original funded stakes. After conversion, current YES holders share the preserved YES backing and current NO holders share the NO backing. It does not reverse secondary trades.
A request that never formed its required court has no ruling. Unused fees returned by DemoThemis go back to the contributors. A delayed response also remains unresolved until the accepted process or the market's fixed fallback permits settlement. Neither condition can be relabelled as NO.
Why another funded panel can help
The example below explores how panel size, individual accuracy, expectations and cost affect the decision to fund another appeal. It assumes a particular relationship between larger panels and better decisions. Shared mistakes or biased information can limit that benefit.
Use it to understand the incentives. Its calculated accuracy is not a guarantee of a real verdict, and its sequence does not define the court's production appeal route.
